Hi2link is a mobile application that helps users find and recognize the people who matter to them, here and now. Nearby detection uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
Hi2link is designed to work without asking for your civil name, phone number or email address when you sign up.
1. Data used by Hi2link
Hi2link profile
When a profile is created, Hi2link assigns the user a unique pseudonymous identifier.
A real and recent photo and a short public text may be associated with this profile. This information helps users recognize each other when a match occurs.
The photo is used for visual recognition. It does not certify the user's identity.
Hi2link does not require a civil name, phone number or email address to create this profile.
Data required to operate the service
Certain pseudonymous and technical data is stored on Hi2link servers in order to provide the service. This may include:
- the Hi2link pseudonymous identifier;
- the profile photo;
- public information provided by the user;
- technical information required for the application to operate;
- data required to manage Communities;
- information used to produce usage statistics.
2. Nearby detection
Hi2link uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to detect compatible users who are physically nearby.
Nearby detection and BLE matching are performed locally between devices.
The user chooses only one active search at a time: a Community or a search by criteria.
When a match occurs, an Internet connection is required to retrieve certain public information associated with the other user, including their photo.
3. Communities
A Community is identified by a unique code that can be shared directly or by QR code.
When a Community is used as the active search, Hi2link can detect nearby users who are using the same Community identifier.
Technical data required to create and manage Communities and their members may be stored on Hi2link servers.
4. Location
Hi2link may use the device location for certain features.
When an encounter is remembered, its precise location may be stored locally on the phone so the user can remember where it took place.
The precise location associated with the user's personal encounter history is not transmitted to Hi2link servers for the purpose of creating a history of the user's movements.
Hi2link may also use less precise location information for statistics and service operation. This use is not intended to track individual users' movements.
5. Encounter history
Hi2link may keep a local history of remembered encounters on the phone.
This history may include:
- the person met;
- the date and time;
- the place of the encounter;
- the context of the encounter or the search used;
- contact cards that may have been received;
- personal notes added by the user.
This information is intended to help the user remember their encounters.
6. Private and Pro cards
Hi2link allows the user to prepare a Private card and a Pro card containing the contact details they may wish to share.
These contact details are not automatically revealed when a match occurs.
The user decides voluntarily whether to share a card with another person, including by QR code.
Information received is stored on the recipient user's phone.
7. Statistics and technical data
Hi2link may retain technical information and statistics required for the operation, security and improvement of the service.
This data may include information about application usage, the app version, service connections and approximate geographic information.
Hi2link does not require a civil name, phone number or email address in order to produce these statistics.
8. Purposes and legal basis
Data required for Hi2link to operate is processed in order to provide the features requested by the user and to operate the service.
Where applicable, processing is based in particular on:
- performance of the service requested by the user;
- Hi2link's legitimate interest in operating, securing and improving the service;
- the user's consent where required, including for certain sensitive permissions granted to the application.
9. Data retention
Local data such as encounter history, personal notes and received cards remains on the relevant phone unless the user takes an explicit action requiring transmission.
Pseudonymous data required for Hi2link to operate may be retained on the servers for as long as necessary to provide, secure and operate the service.
Aggregated statistical data may be retained when it no longer directly identifies a Hi2link profile.
10. Profile and data deletion
Hi2link allows users to request deletion or deactivation of the profile associated with their pseudonymous identifier.
Uninstalling the application also removes data stored only locally on the device, subject to any backup mechanisms provided by the operating system.
Certain technical or already aggregated statistical data, or information that must be retained for legal, security or service-integrity reasons, may be retained where necessary.

11. Data sharing
Hi2link does not automatically reveal a user's personal contact details to other users when a match occurs.
Public information needed for recognition may be shared with a user with whom a match has been established.
Contact details contained in Private or Pro cards are shared only when the user chooses to share them.
Hi2link may use technical service providers required for the operation or hosting of the service. When such providers process data on behalf of Hi2link, they do so only to the extent necessary to provide the service.
Hi2link services are hosted in the European Union.
Hi2link does not sell users' personal data.
Hi2link does not use personal data for advertising purposes.
12. Security
Hi2link implements technical measures intended to limit data exposure and protect communications with its services.
Hi2link's pseudonymous operation and the limited information requested at sign-up are part of this approach.
No computer system can guarantee absolute security, and Hi2link therefore cannot guarantee the complete absence of risk.
13. Children
Hi2link is not directed at children and is not intended for persons under the age of 13.
If Hi2link learns that data relating to a child under 13 has been processed inappropriately, the necessary steps will be taken to delete it or make it inaccessible.
14. Changes to this policy
This privacy policy may change to reflect changes to Hi2link, its features, its infrastructure or applicable requirements.
The last updated date shown at the top of this page identifies the version currently in force.
